Breaking intermittent fasting with fruits


I have been doing IF for a few weeks now. Doing the 16:8 fast and I break my fast with a fruit. Recently, I was talking to a friend who is a lot more into fitness and working out than I am. I shared how I start my eating window with a fruit. My friend was of the opinion that you should not break your fast with fruit as it has too much sugar and will cause your glycemic index to spike. I have tried to look for more information online and haven’t found any extreme opinions as my friend.
